Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

SO FAR, I have not heard of any other authorities following the lead of Coventry Fire Brigade which recently opted in the favour of a special kind of yellow finish for its appliances. A few months ago when I learned that Coventry had conducted experiments, in conjunction with the Lanchester College of Technology, with the object of discovering the shade that most excites the human eye and had decided upon yellow. I must confess I was mildly surprised. I have a lurking feeling that it was the Automobile Association which, back in the '30s, or perhaps even the '20s, suggested that yellow was the most striking colour for road signs and notices. Thus Coventry, although apparently leading the brigades in this particular aspect of study, seems to have been a trifle on the late side getting round to the matter. However, the latest thing in fire brigade yellows, plus the modern siren, should be adequate to penetrate the conciousness of even the most obtuse road-user.
