Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TWO four-cylinder diesel engines are now available for the first time in Karrier Bantam tractive-unit models. These are the Leyland 0.160 unit, developing 60 b.h.p. at 3,000 r.p.m., and the Perkins 4.203 (63 b.h.p. at 2,600 r.p.m.). The Rootes 4P.138 petrol engine continues as a third option.

A new design is used for the braking system of the latest versions of these chassis —a vacuum-assisted hydraulic system with the trailer brakes operated by a push-rod; the coupling by the latter can be through a vacuum servo, brought into use independently through a lever on the steering column.

Modifications to the previous specification includes front dampers as standard equipment, rear rubber wings, plus a bigger fuel tank (16 gal.), complete with protective guard. The gross weight rating is still 7.5 tons regardless of which engine is fitted.

Recommended retail prices for the latest models with J-type automatic coupling gear are FAHT 5757 with 4P.138 4-cyl. petrol engine, £979 10s.; with 0.160 diesel £1,111 10s.; with 4.203 diesel, £1,146 10s.
