ALL-BLACK livery will be used for a fleet Pt of 26 new coaches to be purchased by Evans Transport Enterprises Ltd.—Evan Evans Tows, the 60-vehicle London-based touring company—for its 1968 operations. The £150,000 order is for 12 R192 and 14 R226 Ford chassis with 45and 53-seater bodies by Strachans (Coachbuilders) Ltd.
Strachans is modifying its standard Paceway Express bodywork to meet the requirements of managing director Mr. Gwyn Evans and will include such features as low-back luxury seats, forced-draught ventilation, power-operated doors, P.a. equipment and lift-up roof lights.
Following the success of the Evans Black Knight coach, the interior decor of the new coaches will also have black p.v.e. upholstery.
The deal has been handled by the Southern Coach Centre Ltd., Robertsbridge, Sussex, and delivery will be completed by the end of the year,
