Wight HAMPSHIRE HAULIER Andover Transport lost a major contract before it appointed an administrator earlier this year, it has been revealed.

Administrator Wilson Field said the company tried to trade itself out of financial difficulty in late 2012, after the £2.6m turnover firm made a net loss of £285,563 for the year ended 29 February 2012.

The administrator's statement of proposals also revealed that director Jason Homer took steps to close down the company in December when a large customer retracted its contract with the haulier.

The majority of Andover's staff were transferred to Dorset-based AET Transport shortly before it appointed the administrator in January, while Hampshire firm AFS Haulage took on some of Andover's customers along with the SO postcode for Palletways, the sum owed to creditors. is handling the process.
