• Ford has joined forces with the National Missing Persons Helpline to display details of 10 people on its trailers, including those of missing Surrey teenager Amanda Bowler.

The 10 curtain-sided semis, which are used to distribute car parts, will each carry a photo of a missing person with the NMPH phone number on both sides of the trailer Frank Coyne, Ford's transport manager, says: "Ford's funding of these advertisements on its trailers, which travel the length and breadth of the UK, will publicise individ ual cases and hopefully help to reunite missing people with their families."

The scheme, which Is designed to jog people's memories about missing people, will also feature details of 16-year-old Sara Benford Who has been missing from Northampton since April 2000 and 15-year-old Dan Nolan, who has been missing since January 2002.

A spokeswoman for the NMPH says: An estimated 210,000 people are reported missing every year and Ford's help in the search is invaluable."
