by Alex MacKenzie • The owner and driver of a tipper whose rear wheel became detached and killed a woman on the M53 in December 1993 have been granted leave to appeal against their convictions.

Last May David Gerrant Roberts of Llwy-n Ewig, Llanarmon-yn-lal, Clwyd and Graham Harold George of St Mary's Road, Dodleston, Cheshire were found guilty at Chester Crown Court of causing the death of Frances Chevalier by dangerous driving.

Each was jailed for 18 months, disqualified from driving for three years and ordered to take an extended driving test.

They have served their prison sentences. When Roberts and George appeared before Mr Justice
