• Following negotiations by a visition emergency committee of the industry's Joint Industrial Council, agreement has been reached for Sheffield City Transport to introduce a further 42 one-man-operated single-deckers into its 700-vehicle fleet.
From April 20, on mainly rural routes, 17 will go into service from one garage and a further 25 on May 11 from another depot, on routes operated mainly by the Sheffield Joint Omnibus Committee.
