A SHROPSHIRE haulier believes its planned new £2.25m headquarters will help it cut out 20,000 road miles a year.

Maidens of Telford. based in Allscott, is building the base at a reclaimed four-acre coal site in Donnington Wood, Telford. The facility, due to he finished in April 2010, is next to one of its major clients stationery and office products supplier Lyreco.

The HQ will include an office block, distribution warehouse. truck maintenance area and underground fuel tanks, as well as a commercial vehicle wash and parking provision for 70 vehicles.

The firm plans to consolidate six satellite depots at Donnington Wood, but keep the Al lscott building, which it owns.

John Maiden, managing director at Maidens of Telford, says the company hopes to create an extra 10 jobs after it moves to the new site.
