Jobs under threat at parts firms after parent files for insolvency

MORE THAN 50 JOBS are at risk at two West Midlands firms that make truck parts after the pair were placed in administration.

Happich Vehicle & Industrial Components Limited and Happich Profiles Limited were both UK subsidiaries of the German parent company GHE, which itself filed for insolvency on -1 July.

GHE also has an Italian operation, which is not affected by the German company's insolvency.

The two UK companies operate three leasehold buildings in Birmingham. They make various components for truck cabs, including trim panels, roller blinds, ashtrays, curtains (similar to the ones pictured right) and bunk covers for sleeper cabs.

Together, the firms employ 51 people. Administrator Dominic Wong, of Deloitte, says that seven people have already been made redundant (six at Happich Profiles and one at Happich Vehicle & Industrial), but he is still hopeful of finding a buyer for the firm.

He says: "The firms have experienced trading dfficulties due to the preliminary insolvency of the German parent. We expect significant interest in the business."
