• Leyland Dal is pegging the price of its 6x4 rigids which are being built to meet the 26 tonne GVW limit.

Short-wheelbase FAT 70.230 and FAT 80.260 models are being stretched from 4.3 to 4.52m to comply with minimum outer axle spread requirements. The longer frame increases unladen weight by 30kg, bringing chassis tare weights to 6,470 and 6,600kgs respectively.

Front and rear axle weight are increased to 7,100kg and 19,000kg but tyres remain 12R 22.5 with a 152/147 load index at the front with 11R 22.5s at the rear.

Vehicles built to the new weight but registered this year at 24,290kg may be replated and operated legally when the higher weight comes in on 1 January.
