• Recently-privatised Wilts & Dorset Bus Company is spending £500,000 on new minibuses and improvements to its existing services which will lead to the creation of 40 new jobs in Poole.
The former National Bus Company subsidiary is buying 25 specially-modified MCW Metrorider minibuses for use in the Poole area. The MCWs have a reduced seating capacity of 25 to provide more space for hand luggage.
Operations and marketing director Andrew Bryce says the Metrorider, which will provide W&D's first taste of minibus operation, was chosen in preference to a smaller vanbased conversion, as it offered a 10-year operating cycle and lower whole-life costs.
