• International freight carrier TNT Ipec has launched a European overnight air express service to offer guaranteed nextday door-to-door delivery to the Continent. The move follows a 21 billion investment in 72 British Aerospace 146QT 'whispering jet' aircraft, and will link 200 European air depots with TNT's road freight network in 16 countries.
It will concentrate mainly on the small parcels market, initially flying between the UK and Germany, France and Scandanavia. The launch date is 21 September, and TNT hopes to be operating to 14 countries by early October.
The company says its other divisions, including its UK road parcels network and its European haulage service will be extended to handle the increased business it expects.
