Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

MAN will exhibit new models in the medium weight range at the 50th Frankfurt Motor Show next week.

A 12.170F was a surprise exhibit at the Brussels Show held earlier this year, reported by Tim Blakemore in CM January 22, but the range now covers two further 12-tonners, the 12.136F and 12.192F.

Updated versions of the basic 5.69-litre 00226 six-cylinder direct-injection diesel engine are also incorporated in the 14tonne range with similar ratings of 100kW (136bhp) at 3,000 rpm, 125kW (170bhp) and 141kW (192bhp) DIN at 2,800rpm and torque ratings of 353Nm (260 lbft) at 1,600rpm, 550Nm (405 lbft) at 1,200rpm and 620Nm (457 Ibft) at 1,600rpm.

Standard transmission with the two lower power options is a six-speed ZF S6-36 synchromesh gearbox driving through to a single reduction rear axle while a stronger ZF S6-65 is fitted to vehicles with the highest output drives through to a double reduction planetary hub axle. Specified with 9R 225 tyres the MAN 12 and 14-tonne ranges are geared for a maximum speed of 103Km/h (64mph).

Body payloads of 6.6, 6.58, 6.44, at 12 tonnes and 8.61, 8.57, and 8.44 tonnes at 14 tonnes are quoted for the different power alternatives.

In addition to rigid chassis with wheelbases 4.35m, 4.9m, 5.2m and tipper chassis of 3.2m (14ft 3in, 16ft, 17ft, and 10ft 6in) there are tractive units designated 12.170FS, 12.192FS, for operation at 26 and 32.5 tonnes. and 14.170FS and 14.192FS al& for operation at 26 and 32. tonnes respectively.
