• Menzies Distribution has launched Menzies Logistics Solutions to maximise the use of its fleet after newspaper and magazine deliveries have been made. It is in talks with high-street retailers about delivering freight other than printed material, using its 1,600-strong fleet from light vans to artics. The operator replaced half of its fleet with Euro-5 Ivecos, on hire from Ryder, earlier this year.

• Northfleet, Kent-based bike stand and rack manufacturer Allpark has invested in its first Fuso Canter to help it meet demand. The 3.5-tonne Canter 3C15, from Mercedes-Benz dealer Sparshatts of Kent, is fitted with a 16ft dropside body by JC Payne. Its 150hp engine is mated to a twin-plate, dual-clutch, automated duonic gearbox. Allpark also runs two 3.5-tonners, a Luton van and a flat-bed from other manufacturers.

• Cummins Turbo Technologies is looking for a new manufacturing plant in West Yorkshire to keep up with demand of its Holset range of turbochargers. Cummins said the facility could be up and running by spring 2016. Last month, the diesel engine manufacturer revealed a new global heavy-duty engine platform, the G Series, available as an in-line six-cylinder engine, as well as 10.5and 11.8-litre variants.
