TRANSPORT STAFF and recruitment agency Driver Hire has this month launched an online driving licence checking service that removes the need for operators to make regular physical checks of drivers' licences or upload licence details into a database.
The service, DH Licence Check, draws its information direct from the licence database at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA).
As well as avoiding the need to inspect licences, this means that operators do not have to rely on drivers informing them of any endorsements: the system automatically detects any changes to the licence.
Operators can choose the frequency of the online checks and set their own critical parameters such as points thresholds, vehicle class entitlement or renewal dates.
The checks are performed automatically at the chosen intervals, with alerts or renewal reminders sent direct to the operator.
To use DH Licence Check, operators must get each driver to sign an approval form that gives Driver Hire a three-year mandate to access their licence details at the DVLA.
