through a bridge and fell 35ft into a river. The accident happened at around 08:00hrs last Friday (4 October) on the Al in Bedfordshire.
The MAN arctic, which was carrying a load of lemons, was travelling northbound when it turned left and went through the bridge parapet at Tempsford, plummeting into the River Ouse below.
A Bedfordshire police spokesman reports that the driver managed to free himself and make his way to the riverbank. He was taken to hospital for a check-up b was later released.
Jeremy Hay, senior environmental offic for the Bedfordshire district, says: "I attended the incident and will be on stand tomorrow when the truck is recovered frc the river in case the fuel tank of the vehit ruptures or large quantities of the load into the river.
"There may also be a problem with r diesel and hydraulic oil as the vehicle had chiller unit and the tractor had detach from its trailer"
