Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• by Emma Penny Pallet network Fortec is seeking more licencees as part of its expansion plans.

The company—part of French-based Geodis—says turnover in the first seven months of this year rose by 86% and volume by 80% compared with the same period of last year, It currently has an average of 1.350 pallets going through the depot each night, and plans to hit 2,500 by next March.

Fortec 's expansion plans for its Rugby headquarters have just been approved by the Geodis board; it is to expand the current hub to 2,320m, making its site just over six acres. Moves are also under way on a secondstage expansion propgramme, to construct a purpose-butt hub and logistics facility on an adjacent site.

The changes follow the appointment of Rod Abrahams as managing director. With a background in the parcels industry, he says he is keen to apply the customer service focus of that sector to pallets.

Abrahams adds that expanding the network is his immediate priority; he is confident the company can take an increased share of the market as a direct result of its expansion plans. "We had 28 licencees in March but hope to have 41 by the enc of this month," Abrahams reports. "We're aiming to have 55 by next September."

Fortec already provides a nationwide service: Abrahams says he is looking for additional licencees in busy areas or those covering large areas: 'With the expansion we are also hoping to take on major contracts, and will be targeting potential markets sectors such as IT."

The company is also planning a major marketing campaign and will be producing material to help licencees win new customers.
