introduced a Linkline telephone number for its Sabre 24-hour service_ The new number is (0800) 800601. It will run in conjunction with the existing Freefone number until 30 November, when British Telecom withdraws all Freefone facilities.

Breakdown help

• National Breakdown has launched a service called Truckcall which allows operators to make a single payment for a year's recovery service, no matter how many breakdowns it suffers.

For a truck over 17 tonnes the service costs £135.

The service includes up to four hours of a mechanic's time per breakdown (including travelling time to the incident) and is designed for firms with up to six trucks.

For larger operators, the existing pay-on-use Tnicklink breakdown service has been extended to mainland Europe.
