• NFC subsidiary Exel Logistics has bought a major Dutch distribution company, FoodExpress International, which has a turnover of £7.3m (Dfl 24m) and manages a 50-strong owner driver fleet from two sites at Utrecht and Soesterberg.
Exel has bought all of the company's shares and takes charge of FEI's 150 staff and the running of its value-added
warehousing and distribution business. A blue chip customer base includes Nestle., Quaker Oats, Rowntree and Unilever.
"The acquisition is a perfect fit for Exel," says divisional managing director Robbie Burns, "we are delighted to have penetrated the important Benelux market at the very top level."
Exel has already completed acquisitions in Spain, France and Germany. FEI will continue to be operated by its founder, Fritz van Hintum, under the banner Exel Logistics Nederland.
