SPECIAL training for drivers of vehicles carrying dangerous loads may be introduced in Britain — although not immediately — as a result of moves at an EEC level.

The European Commission, in answer to a written question from Horst Seefeld, chairman of the European Parliament's transport committee, says there is a need for this type of training throughout Europe.

At present, however, only France and West Germany make it obligatory for their heavy transport drivers to take a course of instruction before allowing them to handle dangerous loads,
