Staff cuts in the sector are also precast at 15 per cent and this is 'ell below the figure for this me last year, when 31 per cent f employers said they would ?duce their staff.
A spokesman for the Road aulage Association told CM let the predicted 15 per cent ss of jobs might be fairly accuite, whereas the employing of 15 per cent more staff was "wildly optimistic".
Manpower's last survey (CM July 11) was greeted by the industry with disbelief and the RHA called it "spurious". So Manpower has checked its figures with employers and found that their last survey was 84 per cent correct.
Although the RHA spokesman said much of the report was "fortune-telling", he admitted that there had been some good signs and the state of the industry was not as bad as it was last year.
