Anti-theft Device Locks Brakes

ADEVICE by means of which the hydraulic brakes of a vehicle can be locked in the fully applied position, has recently been made available in this country. It is known as the Auto-Safe and was originally patented in Holland.

It consists of a fitting containing a valve, which is piped into the output end of the master cylinder. The fitting is arranged on the dashboard within convenient reach of the driver.

To set the brakes, the key of the device is inserted and turned to the right, after which the brake pedal is pushed fully down. The effect is that the fluid which has pushed the wheel cylinders out is held under pressure by the action of a non-return valve contained in the device.

When a vehicle is parked, the key can be turned to the right without applying the foot brake. This leaves the vehicle free to be pushed. Should an unauthorized person attempt to steal the vehicle the first application of the foot brake would lock the wheels.

The Auto-Safe is easy to install, as all the necessary piping and nipples are supplied. The sole selling agent for the Commonwealth is Parksidc Garage (Mere), Ltd., Mere, near Knutsford. Cheshire.
