Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

VFRM has some high-profile users. They include British Telecom, whose group safety adviser David Wallington has so far put around 40,000 drivers through the RoadRisk assessment and One More Second training over the past three years and who also uses the Crash Count module.

The software has been well-received by BT's drivers, says Wallington, and has provided a very practical alternative to the almost impossible task of putting so many drivers through on-the-road defensive driver training.

It's also proved effective in helping to identify which drivers are at most risk out on the road. Studies conducted by BT with Napier University to compare the software's risk assessments with actual crash histories bear out its efficacy.

Wallington, who gives VFRM an overall score of eight out of 10, says it's also "excellent" value for money. "For what we paid, it has more than paid for itself in reduced accidents and costs," he says.

Among the other users in the UK is TNT Express, which has put more than 1,000 drivers through RoadRisk assessment and One More Second training. Since introducing the software, the firm's motor collision accident rate is reported to have fallen by more than 25%, with one depot in particular cutting its accident rate by almost 50% and achieving a saving of around £70,000 in accident costs.
