Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

This nominee is employed by a bus and coach company which hires out coaches and drivers to private parties.

On Friday, March 30, 1984 at St Peray in France, a university party was sitting down to an evening meal when the party leader came rushing in asking if anyone had any first-aid experience. A member of the party, Professor A, had collapsed. The coach driver, Mr S. offered his services, having learnt first aid in the Merchant Navy.

The professor showed no signs of life, so Mr S. immediately applied first aid, including the 'kiss of life' and massage, enlisting the aid of a student.

They continued this until the ambulance arrived, by which time Professor A had started to revive.

It was subsequently found that Professor A had suffered a stroke/heart attack. But for the prompt action of Mr S the professor would have died, as was pointed out by the French doctor in attendance at the hospital.

Professor A had to remain in hospital for several says, but on his return he sent a cheque for £50 to Mr S, which Mr S donated to the Red Cross Society.
