TRUCKFEST, the drivers' and users' competition, will be held at Peterborough's East of England Showground on Easter Sunday and Monday, April 7 and 8, next year.

To broaden the appeal of the event, 16 competitions will be run in the course of the two days, under the banner of the British Truck Championships. The aim is to improve road transport's public image.

The events are: • Britain's Best Kept Working Truck. This is open to owner drivers and fleet-owned vehicles.

• The Bandag Tyre Company Best Kept British Fleet. Open to haulage and hire or reward companies prepared to submit two or more vehicles.

• The Best Custom Truck. Open to British and overseas customised vehicles.

• Best Cab Interior, • Best paintwork.

• Britain's Fastest Dolly Tyer.

0 The Truckfest Tr-axle Trailer Competition. This is a race to load a semi-trailer with oil drums, take it through an obstacle course and reverse it into position.

• The Truckfest Tyre Changing Challenge. The prize goes to the fastest team from a haulage company or tyre company to exchange the front two wheels of a vehicle.

• Octagon Recovery's Wrecker of the Year. This is a timed contest to rescue disabled vehicles.

• The JMW HGV School Driving Ability Competition. This is a timed hgv 1 driving course upon which instructors will accompany and judge drivers. There also is an advanced driving test. • The Best Vintage Truck.

• The Toleman Group Transporter Race. Toleman car transporters will be used in this competition.

• A Customised Van Competition.

• Model Truck Competition.

• Mercedes-Benz World Truck Pulling Championship led by Geoff Capes.

• Shell Supertruck Challenge Trophy.
