Operating profits at the Mitchell Cotts Group have declined, and much of the blame for this lies with the engineering industry.
They have gone down from £10.2m to £7.2m, but attributable profits have risen by 61 per cent to E5.8m.
The company's transport activities have remained steady, with 1979 pre-tax profits declining from 1978's E3.2m to E3m.
This represents 30 per cent of profits, while last year it was 25 per cent.
