JEST Midlands Fire Brigade c ent 1 y discovered that lmost half the tankers carOng hazardous loads which 'ere parked in three Midland .?.rvice stations on the M5 and 16 did not have load idenification. The survey was rdered by the Fire Committee f the West Midlands County :ouncil.
An alarming result from the urvey was the lack of idenification of the loads because an emergency the fire serices need to know what a anker is carrying in order to arry out the correct fire ighting procedure.
From a total of 601 tankers nspected 291 had unidentified ontents, 117 contained letroleum spirit, 29 liquid ■ araffin, 60 various chemicals, ;5 acid and 26 pressurised gas.
