FORMER West Midlands PTE director general Frederick Lloyd is the new chairman of the Road Transport Industry Training Board, The board has been reconstituted for a further three years by Employment Secretary Albert Booth who also announced five new board members, H. G. Taylor, P. G. Crook, H. Jackson, V. Greenwood and D. A. Gohl.
The appointment of Mr Lloyd has been back-dated to September 15,when former chairman Kenneth Turner left the board. Since then the RTITB has, in theory, been operating illegally without a chairman responsible to the Minister.
Mr Lloyd is a CBE and holds a BSc degree. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, the Institute of Statisticians and the Chartered Institute of Transport. A former vice-president of the Confederation of British Road Passenger Transport, he retired from WMPTE in January after 11 years. He is 65.
He is also a member of the management committee of the UITP.
