Brown, who is employed at Shell-Max and BP's Purfleet terminal, recently became the 1000th driver to pass through the company's training centre at Buncefield, near Kernel Hempstead. Brian Hall has left his post as transport manager of the Settle Speakman Fuels Division at Al sager to become manager of the new north-western division of Ensor (Transport) Ltd at Wheelock, Sandbach. Mr Hall is founder and secretary of the Stoke-on-Trent centre of the National Guild of Transport Managers.

John Hubbard, 25, has been appointed fleet engineer at Coopers Road Services (1972) Ltd and is responsible for the overhauling and maintenance of the fleet of over 100 vehicles.

Geoffrey Fernyhough, general manager of London Country Bus Services, who has retired after 42 years with the company and its predecessors, was presented with a set of crystal glassware at a ceromony at Reigate by managing director Cyril Buckley. Afterwards Mr Fernyhough and his wife were -piped away" to a waiting bus for their journey home.
