• There will be more than 50 bus lanes operating in London by the spring. This was said by Mr Keith Speed, Parliamentary Under-Secretary at the Department of the Environment, when he attended the launch of Westminster City Council's Star-Bus scheme. Mr Speed said that the cost of the lanes was £250,000. A further £500,000 was being provided by the DoE for improving bus-rail interchanges.
