Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

DETAILED improvements have been made to the Cummins NHK in-line engine range and it has been extended to include two new ratings.

Employing a light-alloy sump and flywheel housing provides a weight saving of about 100lb and greater compactness has been achieved by the use of a side-outlet thermostat and a longitudinally-mounted oil cooler. Other new features and changes include a CAV SL5 starter, re-location of the fuel and oil filters and the fitting of a Cummins compact high-efficiency compressor and a Perry water filter.

The fuel filter is now mounted on the engine instead of the chassis, re-location of the filters having the advantage that it facilitates maintenance. The water filter is designed to combat corrosion.

The newly-rated units comprise the NHK 200-B, which has an output of 192 bhp and the NHK 235-B, which develops 226 bhp. With these additions the range of units having a bore of 5iin. and a capacity of 12.17 litres is as follows: NHK 180-B, 173 bhp at 1,950 rpm and a maximum torque of 520 lb.ft.; NHK 200-B, 192 bhp at 2,100 rpm and a maximum torque of 550 lb.ft.; NHK 220-B, 212 bhp at 2,100 rpm and a maximum torque of 595 lb.ft. In the 14-litre range having a bore of 5fin., the NHK 235-B has an output of 226 bhp at 2,100 rpm and develops a maximum torque of 620 lb.ft.; and the NHK 250-B develops 240 bhp at 2,100 rpm and a torque of 660 lb.ft. All the units have a stroke of 6in.

Cummins point out that the 51in. bore engine is not a bored-out 50. block but is specifically designed for the higher powers.
