DENNISON TRAILERS launched its new, fuel-saving gooseneck multi-function skeletal, specially designed for LTK operators, at this year’s Multimodal show.

Designed to work at 1,200mm to 1,250mm fifth wheel height, Dennison said it would carry a 40ft, high-cube container while keeping under 4.1m overall height. The firm said this lower profile improved fuel consumption and allowed access where height is restricted.

For complete flexibility of operation, the trailer splits so that it can carry two 20ft containers, which can be unloaded at the same time.

It can also carry a heavy 20ft container in the centre, or a 30ft or 45ft container.

Dennison said it believed this newcomer will find favour with operators looking to cut fuel bills, while also being able to carry the maximum-sized containers.

The show trailer was destined for Germany where it will be used as a demo vehicle for Dennison as it strengthens its export efforts.

• SDC showed what it said was the first 15.65m step-frame trailer to be built. The trailer was developed in conjunction with Kettering-based haulier Knights of Old so that it would fit in with the company’s operational partners and the respective networks.

The extra length, said SDC, enabled the trailer to carry eight more pallets (four each on the lower and upper decks), compared with Knights of Old’s standard double-deck trailers. Overall length was 15.65m and overall height was 4.8m. It came with BPW K series ECO Plus 2 drum brake axles with 27-degree self-steer, and a fixed double-deck to the step of the trailer along with sliding couplings.
