Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Eddom International of Hull and managing director John Barry Eddom have appeared before Lincoln County Magistrates accused of forging vehicle leasing documents, unauthorised use of vehicles, and YE!) offences.

The company and Eddom, of The Park, Swanland, near Hull, are each accused of nine offences of producing false vehicle rental agreements with intent to avoid the payment of VED; nine offences of making a false document purporting to be vehicle leasing agreements with Frutas Romu SA; one offence of fraudulently altering a vehicle registration document; and one offence of using a false vehicle registration document.

The company is also accused of 12 offences of using vehicles without an 0-licence; 16 offences of using vehicles without excise licences, and two offences of using vehicles when a higher rate of vehicle excise duty was payable. Eddom faces charges of aiding, abetting, procuring and counselling the company to use vehicles without 0-licences or excise licences, and when a higher rate of vehicle excise duty was payable.

Defence arguments that the case was one that was suitable to be dealt with by the magistrates were rejected; and proceedings to commit the company and Eddom for Crown Court trial were fixed for June.
