• After a series of delays, Scottish Transport Group has put its express coaching subsidiary Scottish Citytlink up for sale. Citylink's recent financial performance has suffered from competition with National Express on services that until last October were operated on a joint basis.
Citylink owns just one vehicle, and contracts opeiators to provide staff and vehicles to run the express network. Originally all of these companies were Scottish Bus Group fleets, but recently an increasing number of private operators is being used.
Following recent cuts, Citylink now has 150 staff, and in 1989 the company carried three million passengers.
