Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A 26-ton-capacity steerable tandem-axle dolly has been introduced by he Primrose Third Axle Co. Ltd., for Special T fpes haulage of long loads. It uses two Prinrose-Ceschi 13-ton self-tracking axles, modified to incorporate small hydraulic rams between the axle beam and the steering arms. Tie rams are connected to an electric or man AI hydraulic pump on the back of the dolly so th 3t the wheels can be steered.

Steering is provided for manoeuvring in confined spaces. For normal running the wheels steer automatically as iormal selftracking axles: they are biased to the straightahead position to give automatic ilignment by castor action.

The steering control allows for each axle to be steered individually in eitf er direction. This gives extra versatility becaue by turning the wheels of each axle in the sane direction the dolly can be used to "crab" 1he back of a long load bodily to one side. The oily can turn on a radius of only 8ft 10in. al id has fourspring balance-beam suspensior and an Ibeam frame with towbar and Ian ■ing legs. It costs £1,500 in standard trim.
