ATJHEN British Railways objected to VV an application by Dovedale Caravan Works, Blackpool, to add a caravan towing vehicle to their B licence, it was stated that the railways had no trucks suitable to carry caravans over 18 ft. long.

Mr. R. Mitchell, of the applicant firm, said that he had been refused a supplementary fuel ration and told to carry caravans by rail, but an allowance was later granted because a railway representative told the regional fuel officer at Blackpool that the railways could not carry long caravans.

Mr. Mitchell said that Blue Bird Caravans, Bournemouth, produced over 100 caravans a week and could not find enough transport for delivery. After the applicants agreed to tow only customers' caravans oa return journeys, the railways' objection was withdrawn' and the application was granted.
