I went along with mixed views: while grateful that I wasn't going to be fined, I wasn't looking forward to an afternoon of being hectored and patronised by road safety officials.

Thankfully it wasn't like that. Instead it was a thought provoking and intelligent seminar that has genuinely made me think about how I drive in urban areas. If this scheme can do that for everyone rather than simply adding to the points on their licence then it's a positive move. However, those looking at it as an easy way out of a speeding fine should note that you can only use this 'get out of jail free card' once...
