DS Steve Cotterill, director of intelligence, says operators should report all cases of curtain slashing, even when nothing is stolen: "We need to get a true picture of the number of offences in Derbyshire.
"If we know where these instances of damage or theft occur we can plan preventive action to make sure the offences are kept to a minimum. It will also help us trace and arrest the offenders."
Thirteen offences have been reported at one Derbyshire MSA alone this year.
