• Three South Humberside haulage companies and two of their directors have been committed for trial at Lincoln Crown Court accused of fraud and deception over the insurance of vehicles and the theft of a tractive unit.
Maxihaul (Humberside); McDermott Movements; Roadwest Transport; Alan Blakey, of Brigg Road, Barton on Humber; and Simon Blakey, of Westaby Lane, Barrow upon Humber, are all accused of conspiring to use insurance certificates with intent to deceive; conspiring to make false declarations in connection with applications for licences; conspiring to dishonestly obtain insurance services from Eclipse Motor Policies at Lloyds by falsely representing the size of the fleet and the identity of the vehicles operated or to be operated; conspiring to dishonestly defer or evade the payment of insurance premiums; and conspiring to defraud Eclipse.
Maxihaul, Alan Blakey and Simon Blakey are also accused of conspiring to dishonestly obtain £6,542.30 from Eclipse by falsely representing that a tractor unit had been repaired; and conspiring to dishonestly obtain a sum of money from Eclipse by falsely representing that a vehicle had been involved in an accident.
McDermott Movements, Alan Blakey and Simon Blakey are also accused of the theft of a Volvo F7 tractor unit. Nigel Blakey of Ulceby was cleared of any involvement.
