• Iveco's former Magirus factory at Ulm in West Germany is being expanded with a second assembly line, and the company is planning to boost production of its 1-Series chassis from last year's 4,500 to 7,000 units this year. Total production will rise from 14,000 vehicles to 16,500.
Iveco is investing about DM 15 million (5.1 million) in the plant and its new facilities, which include a 70rn chassis paint line and extra capacity in the automated cab paint shop.
To meet new German legislation which prohibits the Iveco is increasing production in West Germany with a new assembly line at the former Magirus factory in Ulm.
testing of vehicles on public roads, Iveco has built a test track at Ulm. An off-road section is planned too, in line with the factory's tradition for building construction industry trucks and vehicles.
