Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• As predicted exclusively by Commercial Motor (CM 17-23 December), Cummins has taken its 14-litre Super E truck diesel above the 336kW mark with the launch of its latest 347kW (465hp) model, which is already being fitted by the Finnish truck builder Sisu.

The 347kW engine, designated the C471 by Sisu, is the most powerful version of the Super E engine to be fitted in a European chassis, and is to be used in Sisu's top-of-the-range SM/SR 340 truck for operation up to 60 tonnes GTW.

With a torque of 1,940Nm at 1,400rpm, the six-cylinder, 14 engine with dedicated coolant flow, radiator, charge-cooler and thermostat is said to control the air intake temperature under all types of operating conditions better than a standard charge-cooled unit, as well as being lighter and easier to maintain.

The changes allow the OAC fitted unit to take in air at the optimum temperature; in very cold weather or under light load applications the system actually warms the inlet air.

STC is an all-hydraulic, fullyautomatic timing control system which offers a range of benefits including improved starting and idling, reduced enunisions and lower cylinder pressures at high loads.
