Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

good condition, that's the thing."

G. W. Scholes, Transport Manager, Sidney Flavel Ltd.

Flavel Products are finished in vitreous enamel. It's great stuff— lasts a lifetime, looks good, can be cleaned with a wipe. But it's terribly susceptible to damage in transit. Mr. G. Scholes, Flavel's transport manager recalls that, when they used rigids and semi-trailer flats for distribution, every time a trailer went out it returned with a handful of enamel chippings on the floor. Quite a problem — and Flavel's looked for the answer in a typically thorough way. They ran test loads at the MIRA track with York Freightmasters fitted with Pillapoise suspension. The results were analysed and evaluated. Result — an order for eight Freightmasters. Now Mr. Scholes tells us "Damage has been completely eliminated. We were looking for a better ride—and we've found it".

The biggest factor in this particular York success story is York's patented Pillapoise rubber suspension. On previous Flavel vehicles, most of the damage to the load occurred through frequency vibrations set up by the harsh ride, Pillapoise suspension has put an end to all that. As Mr. Scholes says: "Follow a Freightmaster and you won't see a wheel leave the road!" What else have Flavel's gotout of their switch to Freightmasters? Well, double the payload fora start—doubledecking now enables two loads to be carried withoutstacking. Maintenance costs have been cut as well. The roofs of Flavel's previous vehicles required annual renovation to keep them watertight. York's one-piece aluminiuth roof gives complete protection with no maintenance at all!

There are unexpected benefits too. Accidental damage to vehicles has been appreciably reduced. Drivers take a lot of pride in these smart new outfits. And as Mr. Scholes says : "You can't put a slogan like ours on the side of an old-fashioned kind of vehicle!"

Flavel's transport problems were a little out of the ordinary. But it's to meet unusual problems that the York range of optional equipment has been developed. York adapt to you, not you to York!
