Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AThe term -wide tyre" is now included in

the latest consolidated Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1966 No. 1288. It is defined in Regulation No. 3(1) as a pneumatic tyre with an area of contact with the road surface of not less than 12 in. in width.

At the Commercial Motor Show last year several tyre manufacturers exhibited lowprofile or wide single tyres with the object of replacing twin [yres with all their inherent disadvantages. Claims made for these wide or large single tyres is that they have less weight and rolling resistance together with better mobility and brake cooling.
