Fr YRE inflation can be simplified using the OPW tyre inflator now marketed by J. S. Webber Ltd. Two models are available, one for car tyre sizes with pressure settings from 15 to 45 p.s.i. and the other for truck or bus tyres with pressure settings from 10 to 110 p.s.i. The inflator is compact and easy to handle and complete with 12 in. hose and chuck weighs only 23 oz.

Marketed by: J. S. Webber Ltd., 6 Stanley Road, London, E4.

Price: Ell 8s. with 12 in. hose and single chuck; i13 17s. with 12 in. hose and dual chucks.

APNEUMATICALLY operated orbital sander has recently been introduced by The Aro Co. of High Wycombe. Called the Model 8444, the sander fits comfortably in the hand and weighs less than 4 lb.

It has a powerful stall-proof air motor driving on a in. orbit. The bottom plate measures 74 in. by 3i in. and this can be fitted with interchangeable a in. or 4 in. thick felt or rubber pads to cater for both flat and contoured work.

Quick-acting paper clips enable the machine to be speedily loaded with up to 12 sheets of abrasive paper and there is provision for piping away the exhaust when it is desirable to ensure that oil or water from the air line does not spoil the workpiece.

The sander can be used for woodworking, reinforced-plastics preparation and vehicle bodywork finishing and the tool has already been adopted as standard equipment on the finishing lines of two British vehicle manufacturers.

Price: £53.

THREE air-operated sanders—two orbital units and a dual-action model—have been introduced by Ingersoll-Rand. They are suitable for finishing on every type of material and can be used for wet or dry work on flat, concave or convex surfaces.

The two orbital sanders, MIR 152 and MIR 175, both give 10,000 movements per min. The MIR 152 weighs 4.5 lb. and has a normal base-pad size of 4 in. by 7 in. for standard sheets of abrasive paper with a pad size of 5.5 in. by 7 in. available as an option.

The MIR 175 is a heavy-duty model and the base pad measures 9 in. by 4.5 in. to accommodate 4 standard sheets of abrasive paper. This is a heavy-duty model weighing 6.75 lb. and a removable handle can be screwed into the front or sides for doublehanded operation. A permanent double-effect watering system can be connected from an existing water supply.

The third model is the Dual-Action 165, a combination sander, trimmer, deruster, scourer and grinder, giving two simultaneous elliptical movements singly or in combination as required for the particular surface and treatment. Weighing only 3.5 lb. the 165 is fully adjustable up to 6,000 r.p.m. It takes standard abrasive discs or can be used with normal powders and pastes in conjunction with the felt disc supplied._
