POLICE ARE appealing for witnesses after a truck was hijacked and its load of perfume was stolen in Manchester.

The incident happened at about 4.30am last Wednesday (2 June) at the Wardley Industrial Estate.

The driver was asleep in his cab when he was woken by three men shouting and trying to break into his trailer. When they saw him, they ran off, but returned later with a white van and forced him to get out of his cab.

Two men jumped into the truck and drove off towards the East Lancashire Road, followed by the third offender in the van.

The truck has a blue Renault tractor unit and a white Samro trailer with a French registration number believed to be 2880 VH62.

• In a separate attack, a Polish driver was forced from his cab, bundled into the boot of a car and beaten while his cargo of televisions was stolen.

The incident took place on Thursday 30 April at a lay-by in Kid Glove Road, Golborne, Greater Manchester.

The truck was later found burned out in Warrington.
