cab, which will provide a competitor to the tveco EuroStar. The development is being carried out in Daf's design studios at Eindhoven.
The stretched cab—which, says Daf, will not be designated the 105—will be taller and longer than the existing 95. Power will come from Detroit Diesel's 121-litre 60 Seri (CM 28Jan-3 Feb).
The electronically controlled engine is scheduled for a power hike to 354kW (475hp) when the DDEC 3 control system is fitted later this year. The big cab's launch date has yet to be announced but it may be timed to coincide with the arrival of the uprated 60 Series. • The 6.2-11.0-tonne GVW 45 Series also gets Euro-1 engines. The 5.9-litre Cummins B-Series engines used in the 45 are now turbocharged, with charge-cooling for the most powerful variant.
Other modifications include revised injection timing, increased injection pressures and re-designed combustion chambers.
