AJOINT statement was issued this week by four trade unions and The British Oxygen Company Ltd., giving details of a far-reaching wages and productivity agreement involving 4,200 employees in the company's gases division. It is scheduled to come into operation On August 1.
When the scheme is introduced it will achieve a reduction in total working hours whilst maintaining, by new and more flexible methods of working, total production and average wages. Retraining will be provided by management where necessary.
