At the annual general meeting of the Retread Manufacturers' Association TOM PLANT, managing director of Vulcamatic Remoulds, was elected president. he started his career in the tyre industry with the Dunlop Company in 1947. In 1962, he left the company and joined the Ministry of Defence in connection with tyre matters. He then worked for the Michelin tyre Company, Apaseal, and in 1976 he formed Vulcamatic Remoulds in collaboration with JOHN MOSS.

Monitronix Systems of Somerset has taken on BRIAN HODGSON as UK sales manager. He will co-ordinate the nationwide sales force in the promotion of the Monitronic Fuel Monitoring and Fuel Security systems. He has over 15 years in the electronic security business.

NIGEL FOSTER, marketing and business development manager of Avon Transmission Services of Wakefield, West Yorkshire, is to leave the company in September. He will then devote his full time to developing his interests in software packages for microcomputers and marketing services for the commercial vehicle and bus industry.

The Lox Motor Company has made JULIE GALLACHER fleet sales executive in North-West England. She will operate frm the company's Manchester showroom base, and will cover Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Cheshire and Merseyside. She was formerly in charge of retail sales at Manchester.

Roeselare Sales of Northampton has made two new appointments to help its after sales service and back-up. GRAHAM WAGSTAFF will be responsible for the preparation and certification of new Jonckheere luxury coaches, and JOHN ALDRED will be in charge of the mobile workshop, warranty claims, and spare parts delivery.

Obituary

We record with regret the death of JOHN CARRIE. Mr Carrie entered the family haulage firm of Carrie Bros Motors, trading in Clydeside Road, Dundee. He also served with the Scottish Commercial Motor Users' Assocation and the Motor Agents Association.
