Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

testing cable installations up to 33kV anywhere in Britain has been placed in service by Crompton Parkinson, Ltd. It consists of a complete two-valve rectifier with alternator and an electrostatic voltmeter and control board installed in a MorrisCommercial 15-20-cwt. van.

Designed to -save time and trouble compared with the old method of unloading temporary test gear and connecting it up on site, the van also ensures a greater degree of safety than that provided by the temporary equipment. The van is driven to the nearest point to the circuits under test and two single-core rubber-insulated flexible leads are run out and connected.

Additional equipment, such as a Wheatstone bridge and meggers, is also carried for fault localization and other field tests. Certain tests on switchgear and transformers can also be made.

All the equipment is mounted so as not to be affected by vibration and shock when the vehicle is travelling.

Glass screens above the control'panel protect the operators from contact with the equipment when it is alive, and allow a clear view of the interior of the van. The two bucket seats in the

driver's cab are arranged so that they can be turned round quickly when the operators are testing.

Kennings, Ltd., of Derby, built the special van body. The equipment was designed by the test staff of the Crompton Parkinson cable factory.
