ROADTRANSPORT.com

;s.. the Industry FROM THIS WEEK we'll be taking a look at the world of road transport on the web, and particularly what's happening on our own site, Roadtransport.corn.

Last year was a momentous year for us, with the launch of Roadtransport.com. The launch was tricky and complex, but the response has been magnificent: we even had several hundred visitors on Christmas Day! Now the site is the first place many people go to for industry news, legal reports. how-to information and classified ads.

We've already broken a number of important stories. including the first reports from the Chancellor's Budget, the latest launches from the truck shows and the bad news of companies going under.

Back in October Roadtransport.corn was the first industry publication to report on the collapse of body and trailer builder Boalloy; now, sadly, we have had to report on the Peterborough tail-lift maker Ray Smith Group's fall into administration.

What is a blog?

Blogs short for 'web logs' -are web-based diaries with comment, news and links to other interesting sites; they are generally less formal than the main part of the site. but make up some of the most popular areas of Roadtransport.corn.

Our journalists regularly post blog entries directly from press conferences and truck launches. so you get the latest news straight from the scene.

Blogs also allow you to leave comments, which can often lead to more stories you can have a real say in what appears there.

The most popular blog in the industry is Big Lorry Blog (www. bigiorryhlog.com). run by our own Brian Weatherley editorin-chief of Commercial Motor and Truck & Driver. Every day, Brian and his network of contacts from allover the world root out the biggest, best and craziest trucks, and display some of the best truck photography you'll see anywhere.

Brian also drives the latest vehicleshe often includes video from the launches and gives his own opinion on what's important in the industry.

In the past couple of weeks, Biglorryblog has looked at: • A complete church being moved on a trailer...

• The Sao Paulo truck show in Brazil...

• Classic Volvos and AECs...

• ERFs in Malta...

• Fodens in New Zealand...

• How to take a really great truck photograph...

and plenty more.

Next week, we'll tell you a bit more about the other blogs we run. You can find links to all of our blogs at www.roadtransport. condblogs. For links to stories from Commercial Motorgodircztly to www.roadtransport.com/cm
